Wrath of the War God
Xoas, God of Magic
Origins The Grid is the natural ‘correctness’ of the multiverse. It overlays everything and it is through the manipulation of its lines that spellcasters influence the world and use magic. The Grid strives to be straight, precise, and correct, though it was initially not so within the Elemental Chaos. When the Primordials created the Material, it warped further, and with each new Divine coming into being, the Grid changed and deformed. Though lacking any sort of consciousness, in a primeval way, as gravity always brings things closer, the Grid attempted to align itself. It did so by creating one of the Divines that had plagued it so: Magic, or Xoas as he would come to be known. Xoas realigned the grid, and taught its minor manipulation to the mortals, that they might learn how to bend it properly in a way as to not disturb the whole. To keep track of his own musings, discoveries, and teachings, Xoas manipulated the Grid in such a way as to create one of the last Gods, Knowledge, or Kar.
Appearance Xoas typically is depicted as a high elf in dark blue robes holding a spellbook in his right hand while sparks fly from his left. His face is etched with arcane symbols and runes. Xoas has never appeared physically on the Prime Material Plane, instead manipulating the Grid to accomplish tasks he deems necessary of his involvement.
Symbol A hand (right or left) with sparks of magic flying from its fingertips. The back of the hand is engraved with a circle circumscribed by a triangle with a line bisecting each vertice.
Doctrine Magic is a pure Art, and there is nothing wrong with exploring its limits. Magic should be studied, learned, and used. To forsake magic is to forsake a fundamental fact of the multiverse.
Tenets Learn magic, and share it with the world. All forms of magic, divine, arcane, and natural, are accepted and valid practices of the Art.
