Wrath of the War God
Latharia’s Sorrow is an artefact that was read about by Easy Company in the Northern Reliquary. It is allegedly a powerful bow created by Correlon, God of Elves, and is located somewhere in Correlhome.
Latharia is a mythic figure in Elven history, said to be a close mortal companion to Correlon, God of Elves. She mastered a variety of arts including tree-singing, poetry, and wordplay, but was most proud of her skill with a bow. Her pride led her to boast once that she was an even better archer than Correlon. To teach her some humility, Correlon issued what he thought was an impossible challenge: to use a bow and arrow to pierce her own heart. Correlon believed she would see the folly of the challenge and admit defeat. Instead, she immediately knocked and fired an arrow at Correlon himself. Out of reflex, Correlon shot his own arrow, colliding with Latharia’s mid-air. Exactly as she planned, Latharia’s arrow deflected off of Correlon’s and flew right back at her, burying itself in her heart. Correlon quickly moved to aid her, but she refused his help, reasoning that if she survived being pierced in the heart, she would not have truly completed the spirit of the challenge. And so, Correlon allowed her to die for her hubris, but for her honor and skill, he imbued her bow with incredible power, to always allow her skill to be known and used in the years afterward.
